FEBRUARY

STROUD POTATO DAY 2022!!

Our well established and unmissable annual sale of Seed Potatoes heralds the start of the home food producing season

SATURDAY 5th FEBRUARY, 2022

At

STROUD FARMERS MARKET from 8.30am to 2pm

We had a successful, if smaller version of our Spud Celebration of 2021 and due to continued uncertainty, we are planning a repeat of the same for 2022.

Please do support Transition Stroud and Down to Earth

With our annual promotion of Grow your Own food and the magic of the common potato in at least 16 varieties

As usual, we source our spuds from Dundry Nurseries who support us with bags, labels and cost price spuds.

They have had difficulties with some varieties, especially from Holland due to Brexit, but we are still able to offer a good selection of Earlies and Main crops.

This is a great Fund Raiser and Awareness Raiser for both organisations

It has become a popular Stroud event attracting many new and seasoned growers so the whole stall positively ‘buzzes’ with spud enthusiasm!

We always need volunteers to help throughout the day.

If you have volunteered before, please put this date in your diary, and I will be emailing you nearer the time to ask if you can help again.

If you are new, please do contact me so that I have your email address and can give details of the day.

It is often very cold, but you will be warmed by the goodwill of the many folk who join us and love growing their own delicious food!

Loose Shop (top of the town High St)

Trinity Rooms (Field Rd, opposite Stroud Hospital)

Paganhill Community Café

The Long Table (Brimscombe)

Chalford Community Shop

Horsley Community Shop

It is illegal to sell saved seeds, so we give them away, however, we do ask for a donation to help with our running costs.

Please visit our website and Facebook to see our catalogue of seeds due out in Jan 2022.

Workshops

Throughout 2022 Jane and Sally will host a few basic seed saving workshops. All seed donated to the seed bank needs to have come from seed savers who have attended our workshops, to ensure consistency and quality of seed saved. This is incredibly important for the resilience and longevity of the seed.
